Average E10 petrol by metro area

Stations within 18 miles of each city centre; at least 5 listings required. Among metros we track, Belfast is often among the cheapest for E10 (~144.0p/L avg) and Southampton among the higher (~147.8p/L avg) — rankings update as prices change.

Average B7 diesel by metro area

Same methodology for diesel: average B7 price near each city. Cardiff often shows among the lower diesel averages (~165.9p/L), while Cambridge can sit toward the upper end (~170.0p/L).

How to read Fuel Price Trends

Trend lines average historical snapshot fields (90 days through “now”) across many stations for each fuel — they show broad movement in our data, not a government index. Metro bars compare average list prices near major cities; motorways, supermarkets, and brand mix all influence each area.

For forecourt-level detail, open the live map and select any station — you'll see the same style of chart for E10 or diesel on that site.

Fuel Price Trends — frequently asked questions

What does Fuel Price Trends show?
Fuel Price Trends combines live UK forecourt data: estimated national trend lines for E10 petrol and B7 diesel (using the same snapshot buckets as our station charts), plus average prices by major metro area so you can compare regions.
Why are there separate petrol and diesel charts?
E10 is the standard unleaded petrol grade in Great Britain; B7 is standard diesel. Wholesale and retail margins differ, so petrol and diesel move on different curves — we chart both so you can see each fuel’s direction of travel.
How are metro area averages calculated?
We take stations within 18 miles of each city centre that list the fuel type, require at least 5 stations for a fair average, then compute the mean price per litre in pence.
Is this an official government fuel price index?
No. Trends are derived from aggregated station snapshot data in our dataset, not the Department for Transport or RAC national averages. They’re useful for broad comparison and spotting direction, not for statutory reporting.
How often are fuel prices updated?
Station list prices and snapshots are refreshed hourly from retailer data feeds, in line with the rest of FuelNearby.
